It’s part of a competition by Toyota called “100 Cars for Good.” The competition has narrowed down applicants to 250 finalists, including Operation BBQ Relief. Beginning Oct. 1, five groups a day will solicit votes and the two organizations with the most votes at the end of the day will take home a vehicle. Thursday is the big day for Operation BBQ Relief, which consists of local barbecue competitors and co-founders Stan Hays of County Line Smokers, Jeff Stith of Big Creek BBQ and Will Cleaver of Sticks-n-Chicks BBQ. They’re competing to win a Toyota Tundra to pull its mobile support center. With its current fleet and around 2,000 volunteers spread throughout 17 states, the organization has served almost 500,000 meals for victims of 16 different disasters. In its latest effort to help out those affected by the Colorado floods, the team served more than 11,000 meals. “We need Kansas City to help us win that Toyota truck to help us tow some of our trailers,” Hays said. Maine Huts & Trails announces 6th annual Fall BBQ
